NEW YORK (Expansionary News Service) On Friday, August 31, 2001 at 11AM Pacific Time, 2PM EDT, internationally-acclaimed futurist Dr. Michael G. Zey, author of “The Future Factor: The Five Forces Transforming Our Lives and Shaping Human Destiny”  (McGraw-Hill) will appear on KVON-AM’s “Late Mornings with Jeff Schechtman.”

     On the program Dr. Zey will discuss the state of the national and global economy. Zey claims that America’s leaders leaders must do more than cut taxes and reduce interest rates to reverse the current national economic slowdown. Zey, whose “expansionary” perspective is well-known to the legions of readers of his books “The Future Factor” and “Seizing the Future” (McGraw-Hill) exhorts the the US and the rest of the globe to:

>rebuild its energy infrastructure.
>construct a nationwide high-speed rail system to quickly transport goods and workers.
> quickly transition to fuel-cell driven automobiles
>provide individuals and businesses high-speed internet access
>upgrade and reform the entire education system
>revive our space program.

Michael Zey is known for his creative solutions to economic problems. For instance, Zey has advised companies to retain workers and increase the workforce during the current economic downturn. He warns that when the economic recovery begins companies will only have to rehire these workers, and probably at “premium prices.”

     Zey's vision of the future  has made “The Future Factor” one of the most challenging books of 2001 and led The Futurist  magazine to feature his book on the cover of the May-June 2001 issue.

     For the next several months Dr. Michael Zey will be delivering his optimistic message of growth and progress in a number of forums. He will be appearing on the new network Satellite XM’s USAToday/Newstalk station to discuss the passing of the “greatest generation” and the “real meaning” of the 2001 US Census. In July and August Zey appeared twice on the nationally- syndicated “Don and Carla” radio program. In July Zey addressed at the World Future Society Conference in Minneapolis on the future of the human species. (His books quickly sold out at the Futurist Bookstore run by Barnes and Nobles at the conference.) In addition, Dr. Zey was recently interviewed on the impact of future technologies on the “corporate meeting room” for the October “Training” magazine. Many other appearances are scheduled.

Dr. Michael G. Zey, whom Booklist claims “could be the next Alvin Toffler”, consults to corporations and government agencies on future planning, speaks regularly about the future on the international lecture circuit, and has appeared on The Wall Street Journal Report, CNBC, CNN, and The Turning Point, and in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and La Monde. Michael Zey has authored numerous books including Seizing the Future and The Mentor Connection. He recently has appeared on CNNfn, the popular “Mike Murphy Show” on KCMO-AM, the nationally syndicated “Laura Lee Show”, and “The John Jackson Show” on WMAY, Chicago.
