In3 is designed as a forum for venture capitalists, investment bankers, and corporate business development executives to hear presentations from more than 50 emerging medical technology companies seeking funding, acquisition, and/or strategic partnerships. Approximately 350 senior executives representing the major medical technology companies and investment firms will be in attendance.
"We are extremely pleased to have Professor Langer kick off our ninth In3 conference, and our third in Boston," said Sharon O'Reilly, President & CEO of Medtech Insight. "After all, Professor Langer is one of the world's preeminent authorities in medical technology innovation, which is the pervading theme of this two-day event."
Robert S. Langer is the Kenneth J. Germeshausen Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at MIT. Discover Magazine last year named Professor Langer as one of the 20 most important people in medical technology. Also last year, Forbes selected Professor Langer as one of the 15 innovators worldwide who will reinvent our future. Previously, Time and CNN named Professor Langer as one of the 100 most important people in the United States, and one of the 18 top people in science or medicine in the U.S. In 1989, Professor Langer was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, and in 1992 he was elected to both the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Sciences. Professor Langer is one of a very select few persons ever elected to all three U.S. national academies and the youngest (at age 43) in history to ever receive this distinction. His In3 keynote address will be entitled "Creating and Developing New Medical Technologies."
